Artificial Installation
Der Künstler arbeitet hauptsächlich im Bereich von Rauminstallationen, die er mit den unterschiedlichsten künstlerischen Techniken realisiert. Für diese oft raumgreifenden Werke kombiniert er in spielerischer Abstraktion Skulpturen mit Malerei, Zeichnungen oder Collagen. Dabei verwendet er eine Formensprache, die den in diesen Installationen enthaltenen Objekten ein Eigenleben verleiht und diese so miteinander interagieren lässt, dass sie fiktive Geschichten erzählen. Es entstehen Orte voller rätselhafter Symbolik, die gleichzeitig immer wieder auch gesellschaftliche und weltanschauliche Fragen thematisieren.
Wiederkehrende Themen sind ebenso das Spiel, die Illusion, die Imagination und die Neigung des menschlichen Denkens, fremde Dinge nach bekannten Mustern zu beurteilen, aber auch das Geheimnisvolle und Mehrdeutige, das rational schwer zu fassen ist und so die Notwendigkeit einer anderen, subtileren Art des Verstehens schafft.
Für ihn ist Kunst ein wichtiger Zugang zu einer sich ständig verändernden Welt. Denn oft lassen sich gerade mit ihr komplexe Zusammenhänge präzise erfassen, und die Gleichzeitigkeit von Ereignissen und Dingen, sowie deren Ambivalenz auf wertfreie Art beschreiben.
In Künstlerduo-Projekten (www.oiaia.de) widmet er sich, zusammen mit der Künstlerin Carina Chowanek (www.chowanek.de), besonderen Orten. Dabei stehen die Eigenschaften und das soziale Umfeld des jeweiligen Raumes, sowie ein für das Publikum offener und partizipativer Charakter der Projekte im Vordergrund.
Florian Rautenberg hat an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste München studiert. Er lebt und arbeitet im Allgäu.
The artist works primarily in the field of large-scale installations, which he realizes using a wide variety of artistic techniques. For these often expansive works, he combines sculptures with paintings, drawings, or collages in a playful abstraction. In doing so, he uses a formal language that gives the objects contained in these installations a life of their own and allows them to interact with each other in such a way that they tell fictional stories. The results are places full of enigmatic symbolism that repeatedly address social and ideological issues.
Recurring themes include play, illusion, imagination, and the tendency of human thinking to judge unfamiliar things according to familiar patterns, but also the mysterious and ambiguous, which is difficult to grasp rationally and thus creates the need for a different, more subtle way of understanding.
For him, art is an important gateway to a constantly changing world. This is because it often allows complex relationships to be grasped precisely and the simultaneity of events and things, as well as their ambivalence, to be described in a value-free manner.
In artist duo projects (www.oiaia.de), he collaborates with the artist Carina Chowanek (www.chowanek.de), focusing on special locations. The emphasis is on the characteristics and social environment of the respective space, as well as the open and participatory nature of the projects for the audience.
Florian Rautenberg studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He lives and works in the Allgäu region.
